Perth Older Baby Photography Sessions
Perth Older Baby Photography sessions (AKA milestone sessions) are tailored to suit your baby at any age. Saoirse’s session, featured here, is a “sitter session”. These are for babies who are able to sit independently. We usually do these between six and nine months of age. It’s nice to do these ones in that window when they’re sitting well but not really crawling much yet- that way they can’t escape too easily! However, some photos of your little one crawling towards the camera can be cute, too.
For Saoirse’s session we chose a leafy, green reserve in Canning Vale. Lots of trees made for some nice shade to photograph the session without me needing to bring too much lighting equipment. This reserve has a lovely covered walkway and some steps that make interesting features for photos. It’s on the small side, but great for short sessions and for photographing babies who aren’t going to go too far. There’s also a reasonably sized carpark, so no need to look for street parking.
For Saoirse’s session we did three outfit changes including two from Baby Eve Props. When working with babies of this age, I try to move at your baby’s pace. Little ones can get tired and frustrated when they’re in a new environment and hanging out with a new friend. Throw in several changes of new clothes and things can go pear-shaped fast. I find it’s usually best to get through things reasonably quickly. We tend to only spend a few minutes with each outfit before moving on. It’s also nice for baby to have some time to re-group with a parent while you get them changed. Of course, if your baby needs some extra time to warm up we can work a little more slowly to keep them happy.
We ended Saoirse’s session with a milk and fruit bath. Water play at the end of a session is usually a huge hit with my tiny clients and Saoirse had a great time splashing around and tasting the fruit. All up the session took about 45 minutes and resulted in lots of gorgeous photos of little Saoirse.
