Perth Lifestyle Newborn Photography

One of the many joys of having my Perth studio is being able to offer a lifestyle set-up for your newborn photography sessions. The set up is designed to look like a bedroom in your own home. One you don’t have to worry about cleaning up before the session! I do have a couple of options available for the decor. You can choose between a white brick, airy bedroom or a more dark and moody bedroom with deeper colour tones. I recently photographed sweet newborn Cindy and her parents with the white brick set-up and it was a beautiful session. Here’s how it went…

We started the session with a few photos of little Cindy in her own outfit from home. Her beautiful mummy chose a gown for herself from my client closet. This lovely boho-style calico maternity gown is also suitable for wearing postpartum (like most of the gowns). After we’d taken a few photos of Cindy snuggling with her parents, we changed her into one of the simple rompers from my collection. Cindy decided it was time for a feed. This was a perfect opportunity to take some sweet breastfeeding photos for her parents. I love being able to document these special moments for Perth mums during their lifestyle newborn photography session!

After her feed, we just let the magic unfold. Mum and dad spent time snuggling their precious, little one and admiring her tiny features and I went ahead and photographed it all.

For the last part of her session, mum and dad chose a coordinating wrap from my collection. Swaddled photos are cute and they add a little variety to the gallery. Swaddling can be a great technique to settle babies- especially if they’re starting to get a little overwhelmed from their photography session. Cindy settled really well in the swaddle and we were able to document some more sweet memories for her parents.

And that’s it! Lifestyle sessions are fantastic for parents who want to focus more on family photos and their special bond with their new, little love. Additionally, they tend to be shorter sessions- usually no more than an hour in length. This is because your baby will often be more settled while you’re holding them and keeping them close. Which you get to do for the whole session! I’ll provide an outfit and wrap for your baby from my client closet. Parents can also wear a gown (or gowns) from the client closet and I also provide wardrobe advice for other family members.
