Perth Studio Newborn Photography
After months of wondering where all the baby girls had gone, I’ve had a run of them! Madison visited for her newborn photography session at two weeks old and she was an utter delight to have in my Perth studio. Madison arrived in the morning with her mum for her baby photos. Then her dad and big sister dropped by at the end of the session to grab some family photos.
When you book in your newborn session with me, I’ll send a questionnaire to grab your colour preferences as well as any other special requests you have for the session. If there’s enough time, I’ll even order something in if I don’t already have it. Many of my props come from Europe (this vendor is one of my faves!) and can take several weeks to arrive, so I do recommend letting me know early if there’s something special you have in mind. Madison’s mummy suggested lots of different colours that she liked for the session and I did my best to use them all!
After we’d wrapped up some individual portraits of little Madison for her studio newborn session, we got to work to photograph some beautiful family photos. It can be a little tricky to get sibling photos with big brothers and sisters who are still babies themselves- they definitely have minds of their own and their own ideas about what they will and won’t do. And that’s okay! I’ll set up your newborn safely and we’ll do our best to grab a few shots of your toddler (gently) interacting with them.
And after that, of course, we’ll add the parents in to, hopefully, keep big sister in one place for a second or two while I grab some sweet family photos for you. These won’t always be perfect- your big kid might not want to smile, or let go of their favourite toy, but I kind of love that in a few years you’ll be able to look back on these photos and remember how perfectly imperfect those first few months were. Perhaps by then your big kid won’t ever remember a time when they didn’t have their very own live-in best friend and co-conspirator by their side all day long.
I love finishing the session with some beautiful backlit photos of baby cuddles. My favourite is almost always the one where I ask your partner to look at you while your holding your sweet baby. The look of wonder and devotion in your partner’s face as they gaze at you holding the little miracle you made together is so timelessly beautiful.
